Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, conducting research, submitting grant proposals for external funding, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the department, College and University as needed.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The JMSW program which has been in operation since 1997 and continuously accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 2000 is jointly administered by the Department of Social Work and Sociology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and the Department of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. This is one of the few joint MSW programs in the country and the only joint program between a historically black college or university and a former women’s college. The hallmarks of our program are diversity and preparing students for multicultural clinical practice.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have (1) a master of social work degree (from an accredited program), (2) a Ph.D. in social work or a Ph.D. in a closely related discipline, (3) at least 3 years of experience teaching in an accredited master of social work program(s), and (4) an initial record of research, publication, grant awards and professional accomplishments in social work or related area.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Evidence of research productivity in health sciences and extramural funding are preferred.

Two or more years of post-master social work degree practice experience.
