Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

The English Department at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in creative writing with secondary specialty in film studies preferred.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Development, preparation, and instruction of creative writing (fiction/poetry/screenwriting) and film studies courses as well as other courses offered by the department, which may include composition, humanities, and literature.
-Development of syllabi and reading lists for each course taught and updated regularly.
-Service to the Department, College and University committees as assigned
-Advisement of students
-Maintaining and developing knowledge of current trends, research and standards within the discipline
-Maintaining a relevant and active publication agenda

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of English invites applications for the 9-month, tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Professor of English-Creative Writing.

The Department of English supports nearly 100 undergraduate majors and 14 graduate students along with providing general education in the areas of Written and Oral Communication and Humanities, including knowledge of African American Culture and History.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have earned an MFA (creative writing).

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

A record of creative production in appropriate peer-reviewed venues; a record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals will also be considered.
1-3 years teaching experience at the University level.
